Rest has been calling your name again:
Writer, Author, pick up your pen,
Create a new chapter, it’s what you do best.
Put a spin on your story-- “They took a rest.”
Imagine a lake and a tree with some shade,
Just look at the progress you’ve already made!
There’s a bench and it’s empty, with no one around.
Your legs are now bending, you’ve almost sat down.
You’re sitting, you’re resting, you’re finally free!
Stretch out, lay down, nap under the tree.
Dip your toes in the lake, a relief from the heat,
A day doing nothing just cannot be beat!
Bask in the silence, relax and recharge.
Your worries and problems are not quite as large.
Feel your worries escape you, slide right off your back.
When you’re well rested, there’s nothing you lack.
Don’t let me tell you just what to do,
Recharge how you like-- it’s all up to you!
One simple request, I would like to make:
You can forget the tree; you can forget the lake.
Don’t forget the weight of your worries released--
Chase it, obtain it, conquer the beast.
Find the time, find the place to be all alone.
Close up your laptop and silence your phone.
Shut out all thoughts of “what ifs” and “buts”,
With enough rest, you’ll jump over those ruts.
The world will be brighter, coming alive.
Your work will excel, your friendships will thrive.
You’ll take pride in your work, it’ll swell in your chest.
So why not begin by taking a rest?
